IT Manager – Michael Smit

Michael graduated with distinction from Congella College in 1991 and achieved his honours in digital electronics. He then moved on to complete a 3 year diploma in systems analysis and computer programming. He has a total of 28 years’ experience in computer programming. He started a small software development company in 2005 focusing on custom solutions for a variety of SME’s across a variety of industries – including big name brands in South Africa. The software running in Debonairs, Steers, Scooters, Something Fishy, FishAways and Hot Dog Café was written by Michael. He also wrote the software for a lot of the traffic light cameras around Gauteng and Western Cape. Michael is also co-owner of a software package that is used at franchisor to franchisee level to manage suppliers, stock, GP’s, menu items, etc., with an integration to POS terminals around the country for automated updating of menus and pricing, as well as auto capturing of sales. He assisted with the early version of Smartrail in 2007 and later joined Accutrak as our IT manager in 2014.
