There are approximately 7 vehicle categories in use on the mine. These vehicle categories are as follows: Material cars, Timber Cars, Explosive Cars, Jumper Cars, Bogies, Flat cars and Lowbeds. However, the most important types of cars are the ones that are directly associated with the production of ore. These are: Material Cars, Timber Cars, Explosive Cars and Jumper cars.
Our service solution includes a full maintenance contract that allows for a maintenance facility on site to test the tags on the vehicles regularly
This service includes a technician to monitor a display to ensure that the vehicle passing the test area is being read. This display is linked to the database so that the technician would be able to verify whether the tag number corresponds to the vehicle identity. If there is and faulty device or a miss-naming of a vehicle it can be corrected at this testing point.
The client would like to have a “real-time” overview similar to our Smartrail dashboard on a LCD screen at the entrance to the shaft area which shows the last known status of the vehicles on the various levels.
With reference to the schematic drawing below each of the coloured blocks denotes a vehicle type with a corresponding number showing the quantity of the vehicles on that particular level. An additional requirement, would be the ability to show the status of the vehicle (i.e. empty or full) this can be derived from the direction of travel. If a vehicle is on its way out of the mine then it is assumed to be empty. If a vehicle is on the way down the mine it is assumed to be full. This is an acceptable assumption.
The vehicle location overview is a high level overview of the location of the vehicles. Further detailed information regarding the vehicle on the level is available through various reports. Examples of this additional information are as follows:
- Specific information regarding the specific vehicles on the level
- How long these specific vehicles have been present on the level
- By selecting a specific vehicle the system would be able to show specific information regarding the movement of this vehicle and also current location of this vehicle
- Tracking of the vehicles time spent in repair bays
